Beautification

The HHA’s Beautification Committee is responsible for the visual appeal of the public gardens of Hollywoodland. Since Hollywoodland is an historic neighborhood, the City of Los Angeles has given the HHA grants to renovate and maintain our granite stairways. Working  with our neighbors we created the beautiful planters, new benches, and landscaping in the Village Plaza. The HHA’s Board members and other neighbors can often be seen planting perennials and seasonal flowers in the Village’s planters. And thanks to your membership dues, we are able to employ  gardeners to care for the gardens as well as maintain the historic stairways throughout the year.

The Beautification Committee works closely with our newly formed committee, Environmental Design. The focus of the Environmental Design Committee is to seek a balance between preserving the historic beauty of Hollywoodland and introducing new structures and technology that benefit and upgrade the neighborhood. Projects have ranged  from small ones such as the design of our bulletin board to more complex efforts such as the lighting system in the Village Green.

What the Beautification Committee does:

  • Maintains our historic steps and the Village Plaza
  • Recently designed and installed the Village’s new succulents garden
  • Plants each of the planters with perennials and seasonal  flowers
  • Employs gardeners to weed and clear brush in  planters and stairways
  • Worked with Dino and Harry Williams to design and  install our beautiful new benches in the Village

What the Environmental Design Committee does:

  • Creates and puts up seasonal decorations
  • Maintains the lighting system in the Village Plaza
  • Designs improvements in Hollywoodland that consider the historical preservation requirements
  • Maintains the Hollywoodland Gates and slate roofing tiles
  • Collects improvement ideas from our members and neighbors
