EXTREME HEAT ALERT Extreme Heat Expected in Los Angeles: Tuesday, August 25th –Friday August 28th

The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Watch for Hollywood and the Los Angeles County Inland Coast, including Downtown Los Angeles, from Tuesday, August 25 at 10:00 AM through Friday, August 28 at 8:00 PM. A Heat Advisory is also in effect until Tuesday morning.

During periods of extreme heat, residents are encouraged to stay hydrated, remain in air-conditioned spaces when possible, avoid strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day, and check on neighbors, older adults, children, pets, and anyone who may be more vulnerable to heat illness.

Never leave children or pets in parked vehicles, even briefly. Residents should monitor official updates, as weather conditions and alert levels may change.

The public can keep cool by identifying and resting in shade or a building with air conditioning and drinking plenty of water. If you do not live in an air-conditioned building, you may take refuge from the heat at a public library, recreation facility, senior center or other public air-conditioned building near you. You may call 311 to identify the cooling facilities closest to you, or visit Cool Spots LA.
