El Niño Is Coming
By Alexa Williams
We all have been hearing the steady warnings about this winter’s upcoming El Niño. However don’t get too complacent thinking that we live in the hills and not at the beach. For those who went through 1963 rainstorms, lessons were learned.
Take a look at your slopes and see if anything is going to be in your downhill neighbors yard.
Get some sandbags if needed.
Trim precarious trees. Your neighbors will appreciate it.
If you live next to a storm drain grate, take the time to clear it out.
The City is not going to do it and it will probably save you from removing mud from your living room.
Lastly, if a big storm is forecast for trash pickup day, just leave them in for another week.
They can sail down the gutters like a hillside regatta and you will find yourself hauling a full giant green bin back up the hill.
