Boo at the L.A. Zoo Returns Halloween Weekend
Los Angeles will begin activating its first automated Speed Safety Systems on Monday, October 26, as part of a citywide pilot program aimed at reducing dangerous speeding and serious traffic collisions.
The Los Angeles Department of Transportation says the cameras will detect vehicles traveling at least 11 miles per hour over the posted speed limit. When a possible violation is detected, the system captures the license-plate information needed for enforcement and sends the information to LADOT for review.
Griffith Park’s Merry-Go-Round May Ride Again
For years, the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round has stood silent. Now, plans are taking shape to make the horses move again.
The City of Los Angeles purchased the historic carousel last year for $1 million, preserving it in Griffith Park rather than risking its sale to a private collector. Built in 1926 and moved to Griffith Park in 1937, the merry-go-round has been largely closed since the pandemic and has not operated regularly since 2022.
