From native plants to smart irrigation, November brings six opportunities to create a more beautiful, water-wise landscape.
Thinking about refreshing your garden, replacing a thirsty lawn or making better use of seasonal rainfall? The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power is offering six free online landscaping workshops throughout November, with practical instruction tailored to Southern California gardens.

What You'll Learn
The sessions cover selecting climate-appropriate plants, improving soil, replacing conventional lawns, designing attractive gardens, managing irrigation systems and putting rainwater to better use.
Whether you're planning an entirely new landscape or simply trying to reduce your water bill, the workshops offer practical ideas you can apply at home.
In Hollywoodland's wildfire-prone hillsides, remember that water-wise landscaping and fire-resistant landscaping are not automatically the same thing. Plant selection, placement and maintenance should also account for applicable defensible-space requirements.
Registration Is Free
Advance registration is required, and space is limited. Participants who register will receive confirmation and instructions for joining their selected webinar. Full classes may have a waiting list.
