Hollywood Sign Day celebrates the landmark as international events promise another wave of worldwide attention.
The Hollywood Sign is already one of the most recognizable landmarks on Earth. But the Hollywood Sign Trust is looking toward an even bigger international spotlight.
In its October 26 announcement celebrating the third annual Hollywood Sign Day on October 31, the Trust highlighted a growing calendar of promotional activities, media appearances and entertainment partnerships designed to keep those famous nine letters before audiences around the world.
More Publicity, More International Exposure
The Trust pointed to the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour, America250 coverage and the Sign's September illumination promoting Universal Studios Hollywood's Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift attraction.
The celebration also featured the Digital Time Capsule, which collects photographs, artwork and personal memories, and the new Sign-ie Awards, recognizing the landmark's appearances in film and television.
Looking ahead, Trust chairman Jeff Zarrinnam identified major international events, including the Super Bowl and Olympic Games, as opportunities for even greater worldwide attention.

From Local Landmark to Global Attraction
What began in 1923 as an advertisement for the Hollywoodland residential development has become an international symbol, regularly appearing in tourism campaigns, entertainment productions and worldwide media coverage.
The Trust's latest announcement underscores how actively the Sign continues to be promoted—not simply preserved.
For Hollywoodland, that distinction matters. Increased publicity can introduce the landmark to new audiences and encourage additional sightseeing interest in the residential hillsides below Mount Lee.
The announcement did not introduce a new neighborhood traffic-management plan or detail additional visitor-access measures.
As Los Angeles prepares for another period of international attention, the question is how promotion of the Hollywood Sign will be matched by planning for the visitors that publicity may attract.
Nine letters. A worldwide audience. And a neighborhood at the foot of it all.
