Wildfire Awareness and Preparedness Days in the Hollywood Hills

Wildfire preparedness, and awareness of the risk we live with here in the Hollywood Hills, is a top priority for us all. After the tragic fires in our city in January, there is renewed energy for education and information sharing. This month, two days have been set aside for public engagement in our area. The first was on Saturday 7 June. The second is on Saturday 22 June at the Autry Museum. This poster has information about attending. These days aim to be informative and community focused and we hope you find the time to attend.

Based on what we learned from the event on 7 June, these days are fantastic opportunities to hear from community and civic leaders, LAPD, LAFD, local government, commercial providers of fire safety solutions and share connections to help make our life in the hills safer and more resilient. Our Councilwoman Nithya Raman spoke about how it is our collective efforts and actions that will save us. Her office wants to hear from all of us and we will be sure to follow up.

Our community here in Hollywoodland has learned a lot this year about what we need to do to be more resilient in the face of fires. There were fifteen red flag days in January alone! We invite you all to get involved via events like these and the work the HHA is doing to engage with our emergency services and the City to secure the support we need to feel less exposed to this risk. For example, we are collating data about traffic issues and hazards we observe in our streets and are sharing our recommendations with CD4. Success will rely on working together, both as a community and with these partners.

And let's not forget why the HHA was founded in 1942: to raise funds to buy a fire truck for Hollywoodland!

The Hollywoodland Homeowners Association is currently seeking individuals who are passionate about our community and interested in serving on the Board of Directors.
