Monthly HHA Membership Update
July 2025
Dear HHA Members,
We hope you enjoyed the 4th of July holiday.
Welcome to our monthly update, keeping you informed on how the HHA is working to deliver on our community’s priorities.
Wildfire Preparedness
We are now in wildfire season. Information shared at recent FireSafe fairs was extremely valuable. You can find highlights and additional resources on our HHA blog.
LAFD recommends installing fire mesh in rooftop and ground-level vents a simple, cost-effective way to protect your home from wind-driven embers.
Another excellent resource: the Los Angeles Regional Fire Safe Council, whose website and podcast cover everything from emergency kits to the role of native plants in fire-prone zones like Hollywoodland.
Also present at recent events was the Theodore Payne Foundation, with deep expertise in fire-wise landscaping and community action. Visit their site for more tips and event listings.
Board Meeting Highlights
At our June 8th board meeting, we continued efforts including:
Emergency preparedness
Discussed repairs and restoration in our historic neighborhood especially our staircases which need care and attention.
Streetwise Safety Training
On July 12th, HHA Vice President Justin Burnett, with neighbor Wade Danielson, hosted a neighborhood safety session focused on personal preparedness and pepper spray use.
You’ll find the training packet—which includes on-foot safety tips, car kits, and in-home readiness—on our blog.
Security Technology
The HHA is continuing its research into License Plate Reader cameras.
We're working to determine what level of investment would deliver the quality and accuracy we need to monitor traffic and deter crime in a smart, targeted way.
