Safety Training Class Sponsored by HHA

A safety training session was held in person on July 12, for Hollywoodland residents, with a focus on keeping ourselves alert when out and about in the streets of LA. Hosted by Justin Burnett and Wade Danielson, the one hour practical training was sponsored by the Hollywoodland Homeowners Association.

Participants learned how to use OC or pepper spray (a 2.5 oz bottle is legal in LA), for situations when this might be the best course of action. However, the emphasis was also on staying alert, tips to avoid becoming a target, how to minimize distractions while traversing LA and the need to prioritize de-escalation. Everyone had an opportunity to practice using water-based sprays and we are grateful to Justin for standing in as the target.

Sharing best practice and learning from each other's experiences is a great way to come together as a community, and the discussion was a useful way to put this learning into context for Hollywoodland.

Thank you to Justin and Wade for designing the training, hosting the event and to all who signed up, and for this ongoing commitment to safety. Information shared at the event is HERE
